Simon Fraser University and the University of British Columbia are two universities on opposite ends of Vancouver's Lower Mainland in BC, Canada. Both campuses are spectacular in their own right, and for very different reasons.

Simon Fraser University sits on the top of a mountain at the edge of the farming valley. From most points of the university you can have at least a 180 degree view, often much more, and what a view it is. From high on Burnaby Mountain you can see the snow clad North Shore Mountains, and even the sparkling lights on the snow runs in early evening, while on the other side of campus you can see the Fraser Valley farmland stretching all the way to the U.S. border. If you have evening classes you can overlook the Lower mainland with the main city of Vancouver in the centre with all the flickering lights and inherent activity that every major metropolis has on display.

The University of British Columbia campus is very different. Situated at the edge of English Bay, the campus is flat. Once again, the North Shore Mountains are very much on display, but why many people favor this university is because it is walking distance to miles of beach – including the famed nudist beach, Wreck beach.

If you will be spending a lot of time on campus, make sure you find a campus that offers you the things that you enjoy.
